Charging Back to Clients?
A large percentage of agencies actually charge the cost back to their clients. Some pass the cost on; others mark the cost up. In either case, by paying the bills the clients are justifying the expense. Other agencies choose to address the expense as a cost of doing business, just like email, phones, fax, etc. Because the costs are so low, agencies typically do not spend a lot of time with hard cost justification analysis. For most, it is obvious the benefits far outweigh the costs. However, most agencies look at the impact to client satisfaction as one yardstick in measuring value.
